Founded as a family company in 1972, DESA has been continuing its operations as a producer of leather and leather products, signing off significant accomplishments for 53 years. Taking the justified pride to become “Turkey’s Export Champion” in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 in its field and owning a unique and vertically integrated business model, DESA continues striving to be a prestigious international brand by strengthening its current profile with its high quality products.
DESA’s operations include a tannery, two plants for production of women, men wear, handbags and accessories as well as distribution of those products via whole and retail channels. DESA’s retail operations are mainly domestic with 53 DESA, 36 DESA Samsonite, 2 DESA Franchaise and 14 Samsonite JV, 3 Tumi, totalling 108 stores in Turkey.
In addition to production facilities with a total area of 25.500 m2 in İstanbul and Düzce, DESA owns a tannery with an area of 20.000 m2 located in Çorlu. Company provides integrated solutions for several international brands such as Prada, Miu Miu, Tumi and Lipault. After 24 years of distribution for Samsonite in Turkey, world’s biggest travel products manufacturer, DESA strengthened its international profile further by establishing a 40%- 60% joint venture with Samsonite in 2007.
DESA, a trendsetter in leather fashion and Turkey's pioneering brand in leather goods, made an investment in an R&D center and production facility in Italy in the second half of 2022. This initiative aims to develop its relationships with global brands and increase the production and sales volume of its leather bags and accessories. The new factory, where DESA's production operations are conducted, was established on a 5-decare plot with 1,896 m² of indoor space in Poppi, in the province of Arezzo in the Casentino Valley. Following the completion of the purchase agreement and signing process in February 2023, the recruitment and orientation phase at the DESA Internazionale factory began with a core team of 9 people. After obtaining customs authorization for the "Made in Italy" label in May 2024, DESA aims to increase its number of employees from 68 as of the end of June 2025 to 100 through the training programs it organizes. DESA is the only Turkish brand with a leather production facility in Italy.
DESA places great importance on high-standard materials and craftsmanship, which provide superior quality and durability to its products. The company also offers its products for sale online through its e-commerce store at www.desa.com.tr. With the principle of excellence it has adopted in service quality, DESA continuously invests in design, research and development, and human resources. The company's long-term strategic goal is toincrease the sales of DESA-branded products both domestically and internationally.
As of January 31, 2023, DESA products are sold on Zalando, Europe's leading fashion e-commerce platform. Initially launched on Zalando in Germany, and later in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria, DESA products reach a wide consumer base in Europe across many different categories, from footwear and apparel to bags and small leather goods. In 2025, DESA added Bol.com, Amazon.com, and Trendyol to its international sales channels and now e-exports to 13 countries.
